ok, I get it.
Regarding xbee 868 I have read an opinion that there connection issues if the modules are to close each other.
Did you see issues of this kind?

Yes this is true.
The receiver is very sensitive. When the transmitter is too close, the receiver gets saturated with a too large signal. To fix it, you'll need to put the transmitter in another room or in the garden

Ok, so looks like you already interrupt in the uart1_queue.c, so that last part of the above post probably sounds silly, haha.
Even though this XBee control input doesn't seem like a priority for you, if you, or anyone else, had some pointers while I stumble along on this adventure, I'd appreciate it! I'll start a new thread under "Firmware".
