MAV video from Swift II wing

Hi,

Some of you have probably seen my thread about small flying wings and I recently finished my first attempt using a Mini Swift flying wing which weighs in at 150 grams (5 oz) and has a wingspan of approx 50 cm (20 inches).

I attached a stripped #16 keychain cam and took some video while flying over some friends house during a nice summer evening recently.

Here is the video which features full auto take-off, flight and landning with the Gluonpilot.

Enjoy the music too from swedish Laleh...! :D

Wow, spot landing! Your landings are more precise than mine :-)

The video doesn't look too shaky with the small wing.

Thanks Tom!

Considering that I planned the route 5 minutes before going to our friends for dinner, it was quite good... :lol:

Actually, the small wing is easier to plan landings for since it flies more slowly and loses altitude more quickly.

I just moved on to the bigger TechOne Popwing (900 mm wingspan) and now I have to re-learn again... :shock:

The small wing was stable enough in calm weather but the Popwing is noticably more stable.

Any tuning tips for flying wings are welcome - the Funjet is very responsive so I am guessing the wings need a little more P-term in pitch/roll?

Most flying wings are very responsive. I guess the standard deflection of this wing's ailerons is just less than your funjet's. My 1meter wing is very responsive :-) Adjusting the P-term of roll2aileron should help to overcome this.

You are ringht, Tom (as always ;) ) - this wing has not so much surface deflection as it is setup, so I just might increase that a bit before tuning parameters.

So far I have been able to run the "standard" parameters in three different airframes with good results so I may be a little spoilt! :mrgreen:

Please post a picture of your wing - here is the Popwing after today's flight in the woods of Småland...

It is all really custom build :-)
It looks fragile, but it isn't because of the 1mm multiplex I glued to the bottom (which also follows the curvature of the wing) :-)

Thanks for the pics and info!

I just did a new flight with more aggressive throw and the Popwing tracks much better. Still a little trouble to keep altitude so I just need to increase gain and I think it will be perfect :)!
